The Main Line
The Philadelphia Main Line is a collection of historic, picturesque suburban communities stretching northwest from Center City Philadelphia along the historic Pennsylvania Railroad line (now the SEPTA Paoli/Thorndale line and U.S. Route 30/Lancaster Avenue).
Known for its blend of "old money" historic estates, prestigious schools, and vibrant, walkable downtowns, the region is traditionally remembered by the local mnemonic acronym: "Old Maids Never Wed And Have Babies" (Overbrook, Merion, Narberth, Wynnewood, Ardmore, Haverford, Bryn Mawr).
